Welcome and Induction Week
Welcome and Induction Week is your opportunity to settle into life at UON, make new friends and feel like a member of our community.
As well as the academic sessions taking place throughout the week there are plenty of face-to-face and online events for you to get to know each other, as well as the support available and the opportunities you can benefit from during your studies.
Check out the event listings below to get involved and book your place:
Welcome and Induction Week kicks off with plenty of exciting events to get involved with, most notably it’s the first day of the SU’s Union Day where you can learn more about the Students’ Union, how they can help you during your studies and all the sports and societies you can get involved with, for free! We’re also running tours of the town throughout the week so you can get your bearings and feel right at home in your new surroundings. If that isn’t enough, there’s also the chance to make your own donuts and a campus BBQ to keep you fuelled throughout your first day too!
Find out more at our Monday 27 September events page
If you missed Union Day yesterday, there’s another chance to check out all the support and opportunities the SU has to offer today. Put all of the knowledge gained from the countless Zoom quizzes you’ve done over the past year to good use at our Quiz Night! For the food buffs, you can get involved with live pizza making or an Afternoon Tea.
Find out more at our Tuesday 28 September events page.
For the thrill seekers, the Changemaker Climbing Wall is a challenge you’ll want to try, you can also take part in a Sports Taster Day of the different sports and clubs the SU run too. If you’re more of an e-Sports fan, there’s a tournament on campus you can take part in.
Find out more at our Wednesday 29 September events page.
If you missed out on pizza making first time round (or if you fancy trying a different variety of toppings this time!), we’ll be running the event again today. We’re also hosting a cocktail making event on campus for the budding mixologists amongst you. If that isn’t enough, you can enjoy pool tournaments and live DJ sets too.
Find out more at our Thursday 30 September events page.
We are proud to host a Campus Festival this year bringing together students and staff to celebrate being back on campus fully, there’ll be plenty of food and drink vendors to choose from, as well as opportunities to meet new friends from outside your course or accommodation.
Find out more at our Friday 1 October events page.
