Student Futures

Change the future

Student Futures is unique to UON, our specialist teams provide students, staff, and the local community the support they need to fulfil their ambitions to change the world. Whether that’s the sparking of a global movement, raising awareness of a social injustice or developing your employability skills, UON is the place for you.

Positive social impact

We believe anyone can make a unique contribution to creating a better world, transforming lives, and inspiring change. UON creates a positive social impact in society through the Changemaker Commitments.

Being a Changemaker means ‘taking action to solve a social problem’, and our students and staff are:

  • Driven by a passion and a genuine goal of making the world a better place.
  • People who act and won’t take ‘No’ for an answer, resilient, and persistent in the face of challenges
  • Innovative, resourceful, and open to new ideas, they have the courage to see things differently and be a positive disruptor.

Changemaker certificate and Employability Plus award

  • Our flagship Changemaker Certificate and Employability Plus Awards are unique to UON and are embedded into the curriculum to support your personal development and employability whilst studying with us. It is about you graduating with more than just a good degree. Our process incentivises, rewards, and recognises your investment in a collection of co-ordinated activities embedded across campus both in and out of curriculum.
