Plan your day
To make the most of your open day, we recommend planning your visit in advance.
Subject Sessions
Many sessions run twice, giving you the flexibility to choose the time that works best for you or explore more than one subject area if you’re still considering your options.
Drop-in Areas
Outside of scheduled talks, you can visit course drop-in areas to speak with academics and current students, and we recommend allowing at least an hour to explore our support and information zones covering student life, wellbeing, accommodation, careers and your future.
Tours
When not in a scheduled session, we offer guided tours of our Waterside Campus, led by current students. You can also view your accommodation options and see where you could be living.
Refreshments
You’ll find a range of cafés, restaurants and an on-campus Morrisons if you’d like to take a break and grab refreshments during your visit.

When making such an important decision, it can be very helpful to have a second opinion from someone you trust. That’s why you are very welcome to bring guests along to a UON open day.
Free parking is available on UON open days in car park 4 at Waterside Campus. Please use the following postcode NN4 8RR to find us.
If you plan to travel by train, please plan your journey in advance. When you arrive in Northampton, we’ve got you covered from the train station to campus. The open day bus stops at the station and our Student Ambassador (wearing a blue uniform) will be on hand to point you in the right direction.
If you are from London, Milton Keynes, Bedford, Birmingham, Leicester or Coventry, we do also offer free transport, further details will be emailed to you when you register.
*Please note, we require 3 working days to book a seat on our open day transport. Places are allocated on a first come first served basis and our open evenings are typically not included in this offer.
Need a place to stay the night before? You can book a discounted room at Sunley Hotel on campus if you are attending an Open Day. To receive this discount, please contact the Events Team.
If you live over 100 miles away, we have a limited number of complementary rooms available for the night before the Open Day. Please contact the Events Team for more details*.
*Please note: Discounted rooms are subject to availability and are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Rooms can accommodate up to two guests.
