  • Marketing is an exciting, dynamic and multi-focused discipline. This Joint Honours programme will introduce you to all areas of marketing providing an opportunity to choose specialist area of interest whilst also giving you the opportunity to shape your own studies.

    The Marketing Joint Honours programme provides you with a broad perspective, covering subjects such as principles of marketing, digital marketing, branding, marketing communications and advertising, consumer behaviour, strategic planning, public relations and media communications, market research, sustainability and global marketing.

    The course is focused on preparing you for your future career in marketing with an emphasis on providing you with the skills, knowledge and experience to make real impact in your career. We do this by blending the latest research with the opportunity to apply it to real life business challenges in an engaging learning environment.

  • You are encouraged to undertake a year-long placement in between Stages Two and Three of study. If you meet the entry criteria, and choose to take up a placement year you will find it an invaluable experience that helps you to apply your learning in your final year and prepares you for your career. We offer a lot of support in helping you to find a placement, which can be in the UK or overseas.

  • How will I learn?

    If you are taking this Joint Honours course you can expect taught study to be a combination of lectures, seminars and workshops usually for 6 hours per week. We recommend that you spend 12 hours per week in self-directed study time.

    How will I be assessed?

    A variety of individual and group-based assessments are used including reports, presentations, e-portfolios, posters, projects, live client briefs, multiple-choice tests and presentations.

    • IELTS 6.0 (or equivalent) with a minimum of 5.5 in all bands for study at undergraduate level.

  • The award for this course will be a BA if taken as a major or joint. Students may be awarded a BSc if they study this subject as a minor subject and pair it with a BSc subject. Please refer to the Academic Regulations for more information on Joint Honours Degree designations.

    If you choose to study a Joint Honours degree at the University of Northampton you can select a programme that suits your interests and strengths. This option opens up a host of possibilities to you, offering a wide range of opportunities for careers and further study at your fingertips. In the Joint Honours programme, you will select two subjects as joint for stage one. You may continue with equal emphasis on two subjects as a joint degree in stages two and three, or switch to a major or minor split. The degree title is derived from the two subjects.

    With a Joint Honours degree you can ensure that your programme has:

    • Breadth: you are not focused on a single specialism, but are able to study across two disciplines
    • Flexibility: you can adjust the balance of your programme depending on the interests and skills you develop during your time with us
