This innovative degree provides two distinct routes into careers within the fashion industry.

This fashion marketing & promotion degree is jointly delivered by experts in fashion, marketing, photography, digital communications and specialist software. Academic staff are from both the Faculty of Business and Law and the Faculty of Education, Arts, Science and Technology dependent on the specifics of the module being taught.
You will study a combination of modules dependent on your desired career destination. The programme has a core of activity with optional pathways towards either a more business, marketing-based career or more visual fashion promotions and communications route. Personal Tutors from both fashion and marketing expertise will work with you to assist in deciding on the desired route and specialism for your second and third year.
The purpose of this module is to introduce a range of creative, digital and technical skills and techniques to convey information effectively across a variety of multi-media platformsEmphasis on the production of digital communications which demonstrate a variety of problem-solving techniques from concept to consumer in a multi channel environment will be inherent.
The purpose of this module is to introduce the concept of marketing to studentsTo explain what marketing is and to show the way in which marketing impacts on organisations, customers and other stakeholdersThe idea of creating value is central to a marketing orientation and this module seeks to explain what this means in a rapidly changing external environment.
To provide an overview of how understanding consumers can be applied to building successful brandsTo understand the basis for consumer behaviour and the importance of the factors affecting it, including psychological, personal, social and technologicalTo introduce the building of consumer-based brand equity and how this can be communicated through brand storytelling.
The purpose of this module is to introduce a range of digital photographic techniques and practical approaches that will enable students to develop fundamental skills required within the fashion photography industry.

The Integrated Foundation Year (IFY) offers a new and exciting route into studying for a degree, attracting ambitious and driven students who are willing to learn and advance.
If you have non-standard qualifications or do not quite meet the admissions requirements for the Fashion Marketing & Promotion degree we can offer you a fantastic opportunity to study a four year Fashion Marketing & Promotion programme which includes a Integrated Foundation Year. The Integrated Foundation Year will help you develop the theoretical/practical and academic skills you need, in order to successfully progress to the full award.
Our four-year courses will enable you to successfully follow the degree pathway of your choice while gaining essential study skills. The foundation year of your chosen degree will be studied on a full-time basis and is aimed at supporting the transition to higher education. Years two, three and four are then studied as a standard degree programme.

The optional placement year enables you to put into practice what you have learned on your degree and gain practical industry experience. Your Fashion Marketing & Promotion degree is extended to four years and the placement is undertaken at the end of your penultimate year, this is for one year (48 weeks) and paid. If you meet the entry criteria, and choose to take up a placement year, you will find it an invaluable experience that helps you to apply your learning in your final year and prepares you for your career. We offer a lot of support in helping you to find a placement, which can be in the UK or overseas.
On our BA Fashion Marketing & Promotion degree, modules are taught using our innovative ‘Active Blended Learning’. This approach is student centred with an emphasis on problem-based learning and enquiry. Varied activities within the programme include conducting primary research, study trips in the UK and abroad, industry guest speakers, live client projects, working in teams, adobe creative suite training, technical training on specialist equipment, Cad software training and staging live events.
If you are studying this fashion marketing university course you can expect taught study to be a combination of seminars/workshops/accessing online materials usually for 12 hours per week. We recommend that you spend 24 hours per week in self-directed study time.
Assessment methods vary per module. The modules involve a variety of assessment such as seminar/group and individual presentations/project work/exams/written assignment/portfolio.
2025/26 Tuition Fees
Fees quoted relate to study in the Academic Year 2025/26 only and may be subject to inflationary increases in future years. UON will adjust UK fees annually in line with Government Policy.
There are no additional costs for the fashion marketing course for students beginning their studies in September 2025. Should this change, applicants and students will be contacted by the university with details of the costs.
