Our Joint Honours International Tourism Management and Events Management offers modules which explore the planning, delivery and management of exhibitions, conferences, sporting events, product launches, festivals, and charitable fundraising events.

The course provides a practical approach to the successful management of a wide range of events and activities in the tourism industry. It will be delivered to you around a variety of core subjects and option choices. The course is flexible and you can tailor the modules around your specific interests. In years two and three you can choose to specialise your studies whilst being fully supported by our experienced academic team.

We will support you to achieve your career and study ambitions, which is why if you complete our Employability Plus Gold programme or Changemaker Gold certificate alongside your studies* and if you haven’t secured full-time employment 12 months after graduating we will secure a three – six month paid internship for you, or support you into postgraduate study.

Assessments

Most assessment tends to be coursework based, which is likely to include business reports, group projects, essays, consultancy projects and presentations.

For this programme taught study would be a combination of lectures, seminars and workshops, usually for 12 hours per week. We recommend you spend 30 hours per week in self-directed study time.

Course Content

You will be introduced to the foundations of tourism, gain an understanding of the industry and how it operates within the global tourism environment while exploring key concepts of sustainable tourism management. You will also study the events industry, the logistics behind an event and how marketing communications plays its part.
