Management BA (Hons)

This vocationally-oriented course is designed to balance your intellectual skills and the needs of employers. As part of your degree, you are given the opportunity to work in a social enterprise – either an enterprise you set up with our support, or an existing enterprise. We also offer an optional work placement year that gives you the opportunity to put your skills to practice and gain valuable experience and contacts for your future career.
We will support you to achieve your career and study ambitions, which is why if you complete our Employability Plus Gold programme or Changemaker Gold certificate alongside your studies and if you haven’t secured full-time employment 12 months after graduating* we will secure a three – six month paid internship for you, or support you into postgraduate study.

Information
Optional Work Placement Year
You are encouraged to undertake a year-long placement in between your second and third years of study. If you meet the entry criteria, and choose to take up a placement year you will find it an invaluable experience that helps you to apply your learning in your final year and prepares you for your career. Whilst on your Optional Work Placement Year you will study a 40 credit module ‘The Placement Year Experience – Organisations in Context’. We offer a lot of support in helping you to find a placement, which can be in the UK or overseas.
Course Details
Our Management course focuses on management and leadership, with the first year providing you with a thorough grounding in Business Studies. The course encourages you to develop an understanding of the different areas that management involves, together with the development of management skills including communication, critical evaluation and organisational appraisal. You will develop your management and leadership skills as well as gaining an understanding of management and business models, theories and principles.

All International and EU students applying for a course with us must meet the following minimum English language requirements:
- IELTS 6.0 (or equivalent) with a minimum of 5.5 in all bands
for study at undergraduate level.

Standard entry requirements apply. A typical offer is A Level grades of BCC, or BTEC equivalent, DMM.

Foundation Study Framework Entry Requirements
Admission to this foundation course is normally DEE at A Level or MPP at BTEC. However, we would also like to hear from you if you have professional or industry experience instead, a range of other qualifications or self-developed subject knowledge that relates to the course you wish to study.

Course Content
In your first year you follow a compulsory programme where you will learn the principles of business through studying the same modules as the BA Business Studies group.
This will give you the foundation that you will need to build on the theory and process of management as you will study the business environment and how this is managed, the management of human and financial resources together with managing business information.

Many of our teaching staff come from professional backgrounds and have worked within both public and private sector and are still involved in external consultancy, training, and social enterprises. As a teaching team we pride ourselves in research activities that inform our teaching practices.

Full Time: £9,250
Part Time: £1,400 per 20 credit module
Foundation Framework: £6,600 as part of a four year programme (subsequent years will be charged at standard BSc rate)
Optional Work Placement Year: £950

Fees quoted relate to study in the Academic Year 18/19 only and may be subject to inflationary increases in future years.
Full Time: £9,250
