Through our undergraduate English degree, you can explore the bold and illustrious world of English Literature – ranging from the Early Middle Ages to the present day.

On our English MA, you will dissect and analyse the role of contemporary literature in a number of different contexts. Whether it be studying post-1945 classics, to examining late modernists such as Samuel Beckett, and surveying the latest novels.

The University of Northampton has been ‘Ranked 1st for English Studies in the National Student Survey 2024’ for English!

BA History explores research-driven topics on British, European and World history, covering all periods from the 13th Century through to the 21st Century.

Our lecturers, all practising historians, are enthusiastic about their work and publish regularly as experts in their fields. Our diverse team of tutors are big enough to offer a variety of courses, but small enough to offer you a close-knit learning environment.

    • Our Humanities courses are designed to provide you with the knowledge and skills that will develop your passions within the field of Literature or History.

      Our English Courses will cover relevant and existing topics, led by research. This English course is designed to facilitate the development and growth with a breadth of topics that will stimulate your imagination and refine your critical thinking.

      Our History degrees will enable students to pick through a range of modules on political, social and economic history topics. Students will develop transferable skills in communication, and analysis by investigating historical artifacts.

      Our Humanities degrees include the opportunity for work placements and are available on a full time or part time basis to suit your needs. Our Undergraduate courses can also include a foundation year.
