Available as Part Time and Full Time

Length of Study: 1 Year

Start Date: September

Being in business has never been so exciting and rewarding; entrepreneurs have the ability to work across a variety of business disciplines, whether specialising in industries, consulting in Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) or setting up in business yourself.

Businesses are having to adapt continuously in the current dynamic business environment, and businesses need entrepreneurial mindsets at their heart to negotiate the highs and lows of industry. Never before have so many organisations needed individuals who have this skillset, who have the ability to be creative, think differently and approach potential problems with fresh ideas and vision.

Our Business Entrepreneurship course looks at how to develop businesses from a practical perspective. You are actively encouraged to develop an entrepreneurial spirit and attitude throughout your degree.

This course allows students with a higher education Diploma (or equivalent level 5 qualification) in business-related subjects to top-up their qualifications to receive a full degree award through this one year course in entrepreneurship.

It is designed for the entrepreneur of the future, and aims to prepare you for a career operating in ever-changing global markets. In addition to exploring current thinking in entrepreneurship, innovation, marketing and business development, the course encourages you to develop an interest in starting and managing your own ventures.

If you are interested in learning more about consultancy or want to eventually progress onto postgraduate study, then this course is the one for you.

The cost for the 2017 trip will be £915 per student which includes flights, accommodation, breakfast, guided study tours, travel insurance and a trip hoody.

We know our staff and students want the very best, and that’s what Waterside will provide. It is the embodiment of our mission to transform lives and inspire change.

You will develop the skills, attitudes and visions to help you to thrive as an entrepreneur in an ever-changing global market. You will work across a range of traditional business methods, alongside the visions of future business in order to succeed – innovation is central to this degree.

You will also develop a good grounding in business management, building competences in management functions such as marketing and strategy. You will also learn about the theory and the practice of operating in the modern business environment and obtain the skills required to work in the industry of your choice.

Typical modules

Entrepreneurial Marketing

How does marketing differ when it takes place in a small business? This module explores the options and strategies that SMEs can take to make sure they take full advantage of the tools and techniques available to maximise their marketing ‘buck’!

Entrepreneurial Strategy

From start-up strategies to growth and exit strategies, this module considers how SMEs can plan their growth to ensure they fully exploit market potential and windows of opportunity. Entrepreneurial Strategy uses a variety of models and techniques designed for SMEs to enable them to negotiate the changing business environment.

Digital Marketing

Marketing now has more wonderful new tools than ever before, but has it improved communication with the customer? Constant innovation in digital technologies and the ways in which we interact with them has continued to advance since the personal computer became affordable. The two biggest changes more recently have been social and mobile. Social media has already revolutionised marketing and even mobile marketing has become mainstream. You will review digital technologies, how marketing can use these technologies and evaluate how effectively marketers are using these new technologies in reality.
