Maria Correia is a Senior Lecturer and Course Leader in Business Management at the University of Northampton. She has extensive experience in higher education, with a particular focus on academic leadership, curriculum development, student experience and applied business education.
Before joining the University of Northampton, Maria worked at Coventry University, where she held roles in Project Management education, including Lecturer and Deputy Course Director for the BSc Project Management Integrated Degree Apprenticeship. Prior to her academic career, she gained substantial professional experience in banking and financial services in Portugal, specialising in customer relationship management, financial advice and quality assurance.
Maria holds an MBA and a Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice in Higher Education and is a Fellow of Advance HE. Her teaching practice emphasises real-world application, ethical decision-making, inclusive learning and the responsible use of AI.
Her developing areas of scholarship and professional interest include AI in higher education, inclusive learning, neurodiversity, and business and management education. She is also actively engaged in academic quality, professional practice and community engagement.
