The University offers a compelling student support package to enhance both academic success and personal development. Eligible UK students receive a free laptop—or alternatively, a discount on accommodation or campus meal credit. All students benefit from complimentary Office 365 and LinkedIn Learning access, along with easy access to sports clubs and societies. Compulsory field trips are covered in full, including travel and accommodation. A modern £330 million campus supports learning with extensive library, digital hubs, and workspaces, plus loan laptops available for use on-site.
The institution also oversees career readiness through the Northampton Employment Promise. Graduates who are unemployed six months after completing a qualifying course—and who have achieved key employability credentials—are guaranteed paid internships of three to six months. Current students can also apply to work as university ambassadors or intern on campus. New students at the University of Northampton are supported through a structured onboarding process that begins even before arrival. You’ll find a helpful “Before You Arrive” checklist outlining essential steps—like confirming your offer, completing online enrolment, selecting modules, and uploading ID. You’ll also receive a personalised Welcome Pack, detailing your programme, induction week activities, assigned Personal Tutor, and recommended readings.
During Welcome & Induction, face-to-face and online sessions help you settle in, meet tutors and peers, and familiarise yourself with campus life. Enrolment involves both an online form and an on-campus passport/ID check to issue your student card. Throughout your first week and term, you’ll be introduced to the Students’ Union, academic and social societies, digital learning platforms (like NILE), essential campus services (like IT, library, and study skills support), and key welfare contacts.
When you enrol at the University, you will automatically become a member of the Students’ Union, a diverse and passionate community who bring together your study life and social life. All members are entitled to a variety of services and opportunities that are offered through the Union, including sports clubs and societies, volunteering, advice, representation and the chance to vote for student-led sabbatical officers.
The University of Northampton Student’s Union offers easy access to sports clubs and societies to all students. There are a variety of student-run societies however if you are unable to find one which interests you, then you can start your own!
