Overview
Our Global Business Management course provides an outlook on contemporary business management, and will equip you for a business world facing global competition, economic uncertainties, and changing markets. You will acquire new perspectives in the fields of strategic management and global business while developing your leadership and cross-cultural management skills. This global business programme takes a practical approach where you will apply business and management theories and concepts to a range of real-world contexts. You will be an analytical and innovative thinker who values responsible business practices, and skilled to work in various industries, become entrepreneurs, or continue to postgraduate study.
This programme is available to study on campus with a September or January start. Please note that the Distance Learning route of this programme will no longer run from September 2024 onwards.

- Top-Up to a full UK Honours degree in 1 year
- Pre-sessional English courses are available to improve your English language skills
- Start dates in September and January. The January intake is an intensive programme concluding at the end of July.
- Personal Tutor for all students on the programme
- Whilst studying this course with us, you will be able to undertake in a visit to a business company appropriate for your course. A typical company visit includes presentation by the company covering its history, market, strategy, and operations, followed by a tour of the company, and Q&A session.
Entry Requirements
Applications are welcomed from students with:
- an HND (Edexcel, ABE, NCC), or
- Foundation Degree (FdA) in Business (or overseas equivalent), or
- ATHE extended diploma/ ATHE Level 5 diploma, or
- OTHM Level 5 in Business Management.
Ordinary Degrees (in a business subject) from Scotland (SCQF 360 credits) can also be accepted.

What You'll Learn
This Global Business Management top up course enables learners to develop an interdisciplinary perspective of the opportunities and challenges presented by the global business landscape. You will acquire the conceptual knowledge and applied understanding of global business management, along with the personal and professional skills needed to work in diverse international organisations, locations, and scenarios. Teaching on this Global Business top up degree is delivered by a team with significant experience in the industry and academia, and learners are encouraged to think like decision-makers, managers, and entrepreneurs.
The purpose of this module is to equip learners with an underpinning and understanding of the key academic and study skills needed to complete the programme successfullyThe module aims to lay the foundations for their personal and professional development through introduction of practical and employability skills.
This module enables learners to understand and analyse the increasingly interconnected and interdependent nature of global businessLearners will evaluate how businesses operate across national and regional boundaries, and examine cross-border investment flows, strategies, policies and associated opportunities and challenges.
The purpose of this module is to introduce learners to the theory and practice of strategic management in organisationsLearners will analyse how the dynamic internal and external business environment influences organisational strategy, and how they seek competitive advantage through effective strategy formulation and implementation.
This module introduce learners to the phenomenon of emerging markets and the strategies, approaches, and tactics employed by organisations when operating in these marketsLearners will analyse the opportunities and challenges in emerging markets with different levels of economic development, market potential, institutions, and culture.
This module develops learners research skills and their ability to analyse, evaluate, and present business data and literature in a critical and reflective mannerLearners will apply theories, frameworks, and techniques drawn from the programme to produce an independently researched project report, with the support of academic supervisors.

How will I learn?
Full-time – This Global Business Management top up degree is delivered through a combination of seminars, workshops, individual supervision, and independent study.
How will I be assessed?
Assessments involve a variety of authentic, employability-enhancing tasks that graduates are likely to perform in their future careers. These are based on tasks close to real-life practice, such as business pitch, business meeting simulation, group presentation, poster, market entry report, management report, and strategy analysis report.
Assessment support and drop-in sessions are held for every module on this programme.

- UK Part Time: £1,630* per 20 credit module
- International Full Time New students: £18,500

Fees quoted relate to study in the Academic Year 2026/27 only and may be subject to inflationary increases in future years. UON will adjust UK fees annually in line with Government Policy.
There are no additional costs for this course for students beginning their studies in September 2026. Should this change, applicants and students will be contacted by the university with details of the costs.

The analytical and problem-solving skills developed during the programme will help learners to seek employment in global organisations, domestic organisations seeking global expansion, or global roles in any industry or not-for-profit sector.
