School Learning Resources

The Future is You is a series of workshops suitable for year 6 (approx. 30 mins each) which link nicely to transition, and can be used alongside activities helping Y6’s get used to going to secondary school and their choices beyond.  Each presentation is available as a PDF (below).  The teaching notes for all of these are written on the ‘notes’ sections of the PowerPoint slides, which can be obtained by contacting the Schools Engagement team on schools.engagement@northampton.ac.uk.

• The Future is You: Introduction to University. This introduces key terms such as university, higher education, college and apprenticeships.  The presentation helps Y6’s consider their options as they move through school and when they turn 18 yrs old. [Use accompanying ‘Notes and handouts’ pdf.]

Future Choices animation:

This short 90 second animation introduces secondary schools, qualifications and the concept of university. The animation is aimed at year 6 Primary students and would be a useful tool for lessons on transition, progression routes and introducing careers.
