Overview


This course builds upon the ideas explored during the FdSc Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) to increase knowledge and skills which will help you in your current job and increase your career prospects. In order to complete the award, you will study four modules and complete a substantial project, to a total of 120 credits. The course is closely linked to the Personal Certificate of Non-Destructive Testing (PCN) through the British Institute of Non-Destructive Testing (BiNDT).

Course Content


  • You will study advanced NDT techniques, such as corrosion analysis, thermographic testing, vibration analysis and advanced inspection techniques. An extended project is carried out as part of the course, relating to your work in NDT and focusing on your choice of topic.

  • How will I be taught?

    Our virtual learning environment facilitates constant communication between you and course leaders. You are able to access key course materials at times to suit you and can submit the assignments electronically.

    This course is closely linked to PCN certification through the British Institute of Non-Destructive Testing (BINDT.)

    How is the course delivered?

    The delivery of the course, through a modular approach via distance learning, gives you the flexibility to study when you can. The course is available full-time or part-time and you can choose which modules to study at each stage.

    You can take one module as a taster to decide if the full course is for you, or just to specialist in one area.

    Modules are assessed by coursework only.

  • Applicants will be expected to have successfully completed the FdSc Non-Destructive Testing qualification or have an equivalent professional qualification.

    English Language Requirements

    All International and EU students applying for a course with us must meet the following minimum English language requirements:

    • IELTS 6.0 (or equivalent) with a minimum of 5.5 in all bands
      for study at undergraduate level.

    Fees quoted relate to study in the Academic Year 21/22 only and may be subject to inflationary increases in future years.

    • UK – Distance Learning: £735 per 20 credit module
    • International – Distance Learning: £1,110 per 20 credit module

    There are currently no additional costs anticipated for this course for 2021 entry.
