Overview


Joint Honours Marketing and Events Management offers modules which are geared towards developing your competence and skill as a prospective marketer as well as your knowledge of marketing models, theories and concepts. You will explore the planning, delivery and management of exhibitions, conferences, sporting events, product launches, festivals, and charitable fundraising events.

The programme is delivered around a variety of core subjects and option choices. The course is flexible and you can tailor the modules around your specific interests. In years two and three you can choose to specialise your studies while being fully supported by our experienced academic team.

Course Content


  • This course incorporates parts of the syllabus of a number of qualifications of the Chartered Institute of Marketing. As a result, students can study for the Introductory Certificate in Marketing in their first year and work towards the Diploma in Digital Marketing, taken in the final year.

    The programme has been structured to develop your knowledge and skills and enhance your future employability. Upon completion of the Marketing and Events Management Joint Honours programme you will be able to progress your career in a wide range of organisations. This programme combines international marketing and events management modules that will provide you with a broad understanding of the core business knowledge needed within industry. You will go on to plan and deliver an event for a real client and have the opportunity to undertake an optional placement in industry.

    Partnerships and Accreditation

    Schedule

    Three years full-time or four years with an optional work placement year.

    Assessments

    A range of individual and group-based assessment methods are used. These include essays, written reports, presentations, live client projects, portfolios, research reports, presentations, multiple choice tests and examinations.

    For this programme taught study would be a combination of lectures, seminars and workshops, usually for 12 hours per week. We recommend students spend 24 hours per week in self-directed study time.

    Fees quoted relate to study in the Academic Year 21/22 only and may be subject to inflationary increases in future years.

  • You are encouraged to undertake a year-long placement in between Stages Two and Three of study. If you meet the entry criteria, and choose to take up a placement year you will find it an invaluable experience that helps you to apply your learning in your final year and prepares you for your career. Whilst on your Optional Work Placement Year you will study a 40 credit module ‘The Placement Year Experience – Organisations in Context’. We offer a lot of support in helping you to find a placement, which can be in the UK or overseas.
