Entry requirements
Applicants must have 120-140 UCAS tariff points and one A Level or an equivalent qualification. We also require GCSE English at grade C or above (or equivalent). Candidates currently working in practice with proof of substantial work experience will be invited for a pre-course interview to discuss entry on to the course if they do not meet the criteria stipulated.

Course content
Students will understand and be able to put into practice the key competencies required to work safely as a registered dental nurse. The programe encourages the holistic care and treatment of dental patients and supports the nurse to understand and work within the boundaries of their role.
The design of the programme recognises the increasing need for theory linked to practice, which is supported through underpinning knowledge and work based clinical skills.
Stage one
Provides a foundation of positive knowledge, skills and attitudes that will underpin the candidates personal and professional development with core modules to include
- Foundations of dental nursing
- Introduction to biomedical science and oral biology
- Chairside support
Stage two
Provides detailed knowledge with core modules in research, advanced work-based learning and health and well-being.

- Advanced chairside support
- Managing patient care
Special course features
All students will be offered a range of work placements which will facilitate the development of competence in a range of skills leading to registration with the General Dental Council.
