Certified Copies and Electronic Transcripts

About certified copies

A certified copy is where a former student or third party (with consent from the student) sends clear scanned copies of award documents for us to certify. The copies are then checked for authenticity, stamped and signed by the Ceremonies and Certification Officer. Certified copies are then emailed as directed. Postage can be purchased if required. Certified copy requests may take up to 4 working weeks to be completed, excluding delivery time. Please note that we do not hold copies of your certificate and transcript, so you must be able to provide us with a scanned copy for certification. If you no longer hold your original documents, you will be required to purchase replacements before we are able to certify them for you. For further information please see our replacement certificates and transcripts page. Please note: Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee the verification of transcripts awarded prior to 2005 due to limitations with the records we hold. We will deal with these on a case-by-case basis and we provide a refund where necessary.

How do I request Certified Copies of my certificate and transcript?

There is a £10 fee per request for all certification of documents. This covers sending them to up to five email addresses. If you need to send them to more than five email addresses you should purchase multiple copies. Additionally should you wish hard copies you will also need to purchase the postage option available alongside the certified copies. Once you have completed your online payment at the link below, please email scanned colour copies of your certificate and/or transcript and any relevant information to verifications@northampton.ac.uk. Please complete the order form with as much detail as possible. We will only contact you should we require further information or encounter a problem completing the order. If you require a verification letter or form to be completed alongside the certified copies, please see our verification letters page. We use electronic stamps/signatures to authenticate documents and send them out as PDF attachments with password protection. If you require your documents to be sent to a third party we recommend you provide us with their email address. This means that we can send them the completed verification directly from a university email address which will add to the authenticity of the verification. If purchased we can also post hard copies of certified copies if required and these will be sent by second-class post to UK addresses and by DHL to overseas addresses. The envelope will be sealed and then stamped with the university crest and signed by the Ceremonies and Certification Officer.

  • Electronic Transcripts can be purchased once students have been awarded. This would be purchased as an addition to your original documents which will be available to you free of charge.

A transcript lists the titles, grades and credit values of the modules you have studied and successfully completed in each academic year.

Once we have received your order an electronic transcript will be sent to you as a pdf attachment via email within 5 working days. This will be password protected, the password will follow in a second email. Please note during busier periods there may be a delay in receiving your electronic document.

We can also send a copy of the electronic transcript to a third party e.g. prospective employer, application for further study etc. If this is required, please complete the third-party contact information section with as much detail as possible. If you need to provide any further information, please contact us with your order number.

We can only provide an electronic transcript to AWARDED students (those students who have received an award letter via email, confirming that they have passed their degree). If you order an electronic transcript before awarded you will automatically be refunded.
