Speak Up
Speak Up. Be Heard. Be Supported.
At the University of Northampton, we are committed to creating a community where everyone is treated with dignity, respect and fairness. Whether you are a student, member of staff, visitor, contractor or partner, you have the right to feel safe, valued and included whenever you engage with our University.
We believe that everyone has a role to play in fostering a positive culture. This means treating others with respect, understanding personal boundaries, challenging unacceptable behaviour where it is safe to do so, and supporting those who may need help.
We encourage people to speak up if they experience, witness or become aware of behaviour that falls short of our values. Concerns can be raised through a range of formal, informal and anonymous routes, and support is available for anyone who needs advice, guidance or assistance.
As a signatory to the Can’t Buy My Silence pledge, we are committed to promoting transparency and ensuring that non-disclosure agreements are not used to prevent individuals from speaking about experiences of harassment, discrimination, bullying or other misconduct. This reflects our commitment to creating a culture where concerns can be raised safely, concerns are taken seriously, and individuals are supported to access the help they need.
Our Speak Up approach is founded on prevention, awareness and shared responsibility. By working together, we can create an environment where everyone feels empowered to learn, work and thrive free from bullying, harassment, discrimination, sexual misconduct and other unacceptable behaviours.
