Welcome to MSc Physiotherapy (Pre-registration) – January 2026
A very warm welcome to the University of Northampton! We are delighted that you have chosen to join us for your MSc in Physiotherapy (Pre-registration). You are joining a community dedicated to developing not just your clinical skills, but your ability to think critically and solve complex problems in a rapidly changing healthcare environment.
Over the next two years, we will work together to transition you from a student into a confident, contemporary practitioner. You can expect a hands-on, active learning experience where you will collaborate closely with your peers, service users, and our academic team. Our focus is on empowering you to become a holistic, patient-centred physiotherapist ready to make a real difference in people’s lives. We look forward to meeting you in January and starting this exciting journey together.

Preparation/Equipment/Reading Lists
Pre-Induction Workbooks: To help you hit the ground running, we have prepared sample workbooks that introduce some of the core concepts for your Semester 1 modules. These are designed for self-directed study, allowing you to familiarize yourself with our Active Blended Learning (ABL) approach at your own pace before term starts.
We encourage you to look through these prior to induction week:
Enhancing skills, building networks, and engaging in the wider University community
We encourage you to engage with Student Futures activities alongside your core modules. These are specifically designed to enhance your teamwork and leadership skills—vital attributes for a successful physiotherapist.
Participating in these activities will not only help you understand the wider needs of our community but can also lead to an Employability Award upon completion. You will also have full access to training relevant to your clinical practice, such as manual handling and basic life support courses, which we will guide you toward once you arrive.
