Our Fine Art (Top-Up) BA (Hons) course gives you the chance to explore contemporary approaches to fine art across a range of disciplines, making use of our excellent resources for printmaking, sculpture, installation, photography, video and digital arts.
You will be part of a diverse group of students, each of whom bring their own unique experiences and interests to the course, making our supportive studio environment a great place to refine your own artistic voice.
Standard entry requirements apply. Applicants are expected to have studied a Fine Art or related Art and Design subject at Foundation Degree/HND or equivalent.
We welcome international applications and applications from students with a range of non-traditional educational or professional qualifications.

This one-year top-up course is your opportunity to refine your artistic voice and take your creative practice to the next level. You’ll explore contemporary approaches to fine art across disciplines like sculpture, installation, printmaking, photography, video and digital arts, using professional-grade studios and workshops. You’ll develop your own body of work, engage with art theory, and prepare for public exhibitions, including a final-year degree show. With guidance from practising artists and access to guest speakers and study visits, you’ll gain the confidence, skills and mindset needed to succeed in the creative industries or further study.
Each year, we programme study visits to a wide range of locations. Recent visits have included London galleries, Venice Biennale, Liverpool Biennial, New York and Berlin.
Your year will conclude with the public exhibition of your artwork – the Degree Show – our showcase of your work for visiting curators and gallerists.
The module consolidates the student s creative and theoretical interests through an articulation of the student s own practice within a critical framework, and a sustained, independent investigation and analysis of artists and conceptual positions within the field of Fine Art that are relevant to the individual student.
This module enables students to develop their working knowledge of the creative and cultural industries, provides them with a range of skills and strategies to prepare themselves for the external world, and requires the student to take practical actions to progress their career within the arts sector or related field.
