As a key player in the University Senior Management Team, Deborah has strategic and operational responsibilities for all staff related matters. Under her leadership, Deborah is ensuring the University continues to attract, retain and develop high performing staff and works with the HR team to ensure excellent employee relations, to enhance staff engagement and improve well-being.
Deborah has overall responsibility for the recruitment of students, from home, EU and overseas and works with her team to attract students who would flourish on a Changemaker Campus. PR, corporate and internal communications also fall within her area of leadership. Prior to taking up her directorship, Deborah was the Deputy Dean in the Northampton Business School where she had specific responsibilities for resources planning, performance management, quality and the student experience.
As an academic Deborah taught and researched in the area of commercial, employment and EU law as well as being very involved in developing and implementing initiatives to support student employability.
Deborah has taught extensively on both undergraduate and postgradate programmes in the areas of commercial, consumer and European law. She has also developed and delivered work based learning and professional development modules in the School and continues to make a contribution in this area.
Whilst Deborah’s early research focused on the subject of consumer and European law, her research is now focused on aspects of employability and management.
