Business Analytics and AI (Top-up) BSc is an innovative and exciting course designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge to thrive in today’s data-driven world. This one-year top-up degree bridges the dynamic fields of information systems, data analytics, and eCommerce, offering a combination of theoretical understanding and practical application.
Business Analytics & AI (top up) BSc aims to equip learners with the ability to critically evaluate contemporary and emerging trends in information systems, business models, and AI, and to apply advanced business analytics, forecasting, and scenario analysis techniques to complex organisational challenges. Through the responsible use of data and technology, learners will develop the skills to communicate data‑driven insights clearly to diverse stakeholders, assess the strategic and workforce implications of AI adoption, and design ethical, well‑governed solutions aligned with organisational and societal needs. Emphasis is placed on rigorous research, evidence‑based practice, and the practical application of analytics to real‑world business contexts.
Through a balanced curriculum, information systems and business data students will enhance their academic, analytical, and problem-solving abilities while developing the technical expertise required to manage and interpret complex data systems.
Applicants should have successfully completed a relevant Level 5 qualification, such as a Foundation Degree, Higher National Diploma (HND), or an equivalent qualification in a business, data analytics, information systems, computing or related field, equating to 240 credits at Levels 4 and 5.

In an increasingly digitised world, businesses operate within complex ecosystems shaped by digital platforms, e-commerce business models and evolving complex business data. This module aims to equip students with a thorough understanding of the dynamics, challenges and opportunities presented by the interconnected digital business landscape to make informed business decisions.
This module examines the latest trends in data and information systems, emphasising hands-on applications, ethical and sustainability considerations, and legal compliance. Students gain insights into information systems methodologies, AI and machine learning technologies, and key data management practices, and engage in vital discussions on data privacy and legal standards.
The purpose of this module is to enable students to apply advanced business analytics to real business challenges. Students use visualisation, experimentation and performance metrics to support strategic decisions, developing critical judgement, ethical awareness and professional communication skills for data-driven careers or postgraduate study.
The purpose of this module is to equip students with the analytical tools to predict future market trends and optimise strategic decision-making. By integrating statistical forecasting with prescriptive modelling, learners transform raw data into actionable insights, ensuring organisational resilience.
Students examine practical applications of AI and automation in business contexts, focusing on how these technologies can improve efficiency, productivity, and competitiveness. Based on real-world business problems, students evaluate AI-driven solutions and consider the organisational, ethical, and societal implications of automation.
The purpose of this module is to equip students with the ethical reasoning, governance frameworks, and professional judgement required to manage AI responsibly in real organisational contexts. It reflects current industry practice, emerging regulation, and professional standards, preparing graduates for roles in data-driven business, information systems, analytics, and AI governance.

UON will adjust fees annually for UK (Home) Students up to the maximum allowable fee cap set by the Secretary of State for Education.
When assessing an applicant’s eligibility to pay home fees, we use the guidance provided by the UK Council for International Student Affairs (UKCISA) which sets out the regulations that have been decided by the UK Government Department of Education.
Tuition fees quoted for International Students apply only to the 2026/27 academic year. These fees may increase in future years in line with Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation to reflect rising delivery costs. Any annual increase will be capped at a maximum of 5% of the previous year’s tuition fee. Updated tuition fees will be published on the UON website at least three months before the start of the next academic year.
International students that have opted to enrol on January intake with accelerated pathway will be required to pay deposit of £7,000 required for their re-enrolment onto their second year in September. We therefore urge that you consider preparing necessary funds to cover the enrolment fee in advance.
There are no additional costs for this business analytics and AI course for students beginning their studies in September 2026. Should this change, applicants and students will be contacted by the university with details of the costs.
