Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion
At the University of Northampton, we are dedicated to fostering a vibrant, ethical, and sustainable environment for work, study, and living, where equality, diversity, and inclusion are deeply valued.
Our Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) team, part of the Equality and Access Team within the Vice Chancellor’s Office, drives our commitment to these principles. Through our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Priorities 2026-2030 (PDF, 133 KB), we outline our vision and values, striving to be an inclusive organisation.
We go beyond meeting statutory requirements, aiming to bring about meaningful cultural change. The EDI team ensures that fairness is at the core of everything we do, encompassing age, disability, ethnicity, gender identity, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, religion and belief, sexual orientation, and sex (gender).
Policies, Guidance, and Reports
The University has developed a dedicated plan focused on advancing equality, diversity and inclusion for all staff. This plan sets out our key priorities and the practical steps we are taking to foster a fair, supportive and inclusive working environment.
Aligned with the University’s wider commitment to Inclusivity, the staff action plan highlights targeted initiatives designed to strengthen our culture, enhance colleague experience and ensure that inclusion is embedded across all areas of University life.
Objectives and actions have been agreed with the relevant Equality committees and forums including staff and student representatives, to ensure that key priorities are addressed.
