7.11.2025Need support or feeling unsafe? UON’s Security team is here for you 24/7.
University life can be unpredictable, with late-night study sessions, early morning lectures, and sometimes, situations where you feel unsafe or unsure of what to do. At UON, feeling safe on campus it a priority. That’s where the security team steps in,
The UON security team operates on a 24/7 basis, 365 days a year, ensuring every student, staff member, and visitor is protected. Whether you are walking through the campus at night, locked out of your accommodation, or noticing something suspicious, they are easily accessible.

Reaching out to security is simple. You can contact them via the 24-hour emergency number posted around campus or use the SafeZone app, which allows you to check in, call for help, or report accidents discreetly. It’s a great tool for giving you peace of mind, especially if you are working late or walking home after an event.
Security also plays a vital role in student support. If you ever feel uncomfortable, perhaps due to anti-social behavior, an unfamiliar visitor in your accommodation, or concern for a friend, don’t hesitate to reach out. The team works closely with Student Services and Residential Life to make sure your concerns are addressed effectively.
It’s also worth noting that being proactive can help you and others. Saving the Security number in your phone, downloading the SafeZone app; and if you’re unsure about anything. Just ask!
