Loans for doctoral-level study
UK students enrolling a doctoral-level course may be eligible for a Doctorial Loan.
For further information, please visit the Doctoral Loan section of the Find a PhD website.
To ensure the funding is approved on time, we would recommend that you apply for a doctoral loan from SFE well in advance (you can apply for a loan from SFE without a confirmed place but would need to list a course name; loan applications can be amended or cancelled on request). Visit the Government website for details on how to apply for a doctoral loan.
Studentships
Studentships for doctoral level programmes are advertised on our studentships page. These opportunities are advertised when they arise and the advert information will include a specific application link for the funded studentship, as well as information about what funding the studentship provides.
Further information about PhD funding, including scholarships and bursaries, can be found on the Prospects careers website and on the Find a PhD guidance on PhD funding from charities.
