Travelling to Northampton

There are numerous ways you can travel to the University of Northampton. This year the safest way for you to travel to campus is for you to make your own way. This may sound daunting but don’t worry as Northampton is very well connected. The most important thing before travelling to the University is to make us aware of your arrival date. Please complete the online arrivals form and let us know the date you will be arriving so we can make arrangements to welcome you to the University of Northampton.

Travelling by Taxi

You are strongly advised to arrange a taxi as the safest means of transport to the University in advance of you travelling.

We suggest you book a taxi through Bounds Taxis or Amber Cars as these are approved by the university. Bookings can be made over the phone, online via their website or by downloading their App. Please note you may be asked to pay the fee in advance. It costs approximately £95 for a pickup service from Heathrow airport. It can be more depending on the waiting time at the airport. You will be asked to provide your flight number and mobile contact number when making the booking.

Travelling by Bus

There are regular buses from London Heathrow airport to Northampton Bus Station.

The journey is average 2.5 hours and it costs approximately £32. Buses are also available from Birmingham International airport and Luton Airport to Northampton Bus Station. We advise you to book a ticket online before travelling. Timetables and ticket booking information can be accessed via the National Express Coaches website. The Bounds Taxis office is opposite the Bus Station main entrance, and you can request a taxi from there upon your arrival. If you want to use the local bus services, please ask the Information Desk inside the bus station for timetable and bus route information.

Travelling by Train

Trains are also available to Northampton Train Station from London Euston Station which is located in central London. The price is around £37, however it can be more expensive during peak times Monday to Friday. The services run approximately every 20 minutes. The train only takes around one hour from London Euston Station to Northampton, but please note you will need to take the London underground service from Heathrow airport to London Euston Station.
