Studying at UON

As a second year student, I have now spent 2 years living in Northampton for my studies, and I love both my degree and living in Northampton town. Here are some of the reasons why:

The Town

In Northampton, there is a perfect balance between the city and the countryside.

Northampton is not as overwhelming as other university cities, but it still has everything that a student needs right on our doorstep, such as shops, cafes and nightlife. So, as well as having cosy cafes to complete your assignments in, the town also benefits students’ social lives outside of studies.

There are so many places within walking distance of the university in which you can explore nature, such as Delapre Abbey and Beckets Park which are right on our doorstep.

Two people walk on a sunlit market square lined with shops, including a Paddy Power storefront. Several other people are visible in the background.

Campus

The actual campus itself in Northampton is also another reason why I love studying here.

There are amazing modern facilities and there are a variety of places to complete your studies on campus.

Also, places like the Waterside Bar  & Restaurant allow for balance to ensure that you can also socialise in an accessible way. The Engine Shed is home to the student union, which is also a great place to meet new people and grab some food in the café. There are a wide variety of events which run during the day and in the evenings which take place around the campus.

Affordable

Although Northampton is known for not being one of the larger city universities, it is a lot more affordable for costs such as rent. Also, compared to other universities, Northampton offers easy access to societies and sports clubs, allowing for students to balance both their studying and ensuring that they still have time to do the things that they enjoy, or even try out new things.

Studying in Northampton is honestly amazing and from being on the lovely campus to the actual town centre,

studying in this town is one of the best decisions that I have made for my future.
