Choosing UON as a mature student
I originally applied to go to the University of Northampton when I left school, but due to personal reasons, I decided that it was not the right time to go to university. However I knew the University of Northampton would be my first choice when I decided to reapply again. Here are a few reasons why:
Making friends
Going to university is a great opportunity to make new friends and joining societies make it easy to find friends who have similar interests to you outside of your course. UON’s Students Union offer a variety of societies and sports clubs; you can also make your own if the society or sports club does not exist.

Modern facilities
The Waterside Campus opened in 2018, meaning the campus facilities are all very modern. There is the library, which is spread across four floors, with a coffee shop that is open during the day, the library itself is open 24/7. This is great as it means you do not have a time limit on when you can study, there is always an opportunity to go to the library to get your work done.
Staying local
Another bonus of choosing UON is how close it is to my home. It means I am able to complete my studies whilst staying at home, and I can also drive into university. On the days I don’t want to drive, I can get the train.
Northampton town is very easy to get around, whether it is walking or getting a bus – it is a very easy place to navigate.
Finding my perfect course
When I found my course, I realised it was the perfect course for me.
It covered everything I wanted to study and offered lots of opportunities to try something new. The university offers many different courses, meaning there is something to suit everyone!
I am now going into my second year and I am so excited to continue my journey at the University of Northampton.
