My UON Transfer Journey: Year 2 Adult Nursing

Luis expresses his thoughts and feelings throughout the process of transferring to the University of Northampton and shares his insights to moving to a new environment.
I took a break from studies and when restrictions were lifted; with universities reintroducing on site learning, I knew that this is the right time to use my Higher Education certificate to transfer on a course at a different university and pursue my career. I had a lot of thoughts running through my head and the anxiousness of transferring to another university.
Transferring to university can be seem daunting, however, when you are sure on what to do; everything else is all about committing to the goal and communicating that goal to the university to ensure that you have obtained all the relevant information you need to complete most of the requirements and pre-enrolment questionnaires.
I had to be prepared to provide all the necessary information needed to make sure I have covered all the basis for a successful transfer to UON. I made sure that, my Higher Education Certificate (with module results, titles, and credits) are included.

Previous information for Practice Assessment document from year 1 (including practice hours); completing DBS/Occupational health forms; communicating with relevant members of the course to make sure that I have all the support needed to successfully transfer and enrol on the course.
During the process, some of the questions that were rampant in my head were, Am I going to fit in with the nursing cohort at UON? Would my expectations meet the standards from the open day? How will I cope with the studying structure? Every single one of these thoughts were valid and true.
Fast forward to successfully been accepted and enrolled on my course, I was surprised with the level of support I received from the university. From face-to-face support with lecturers/ clinical development/academic librarian teams; they provided support to your needs.
Live too far away or can’t make it? There’s online support! The endless possibility of support gave me confidence no matter if I was in university or whilst I was in my clinical placements! I felt seen, heard, and supported 24/7 in my academic journey.
With third year close by, I am a step closer to graduating with UON!
So, my advice will be, whatever you are thinking of doing, seek the information needed and pursue it with 100% conviction, be aware that doubt you will be present, but push through with the goal you have envisioned for yourself.
