Spring – Summer notice

During the period from April to October every year, we have severely reduced appointments whilst our students sit their exams and have their spring/summer breaks.

We may close our new patient applications for a period of time, or add you to a waiting list for our clinics starting in October.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

We welcome your feedback and use it to help us continually improve our services.

Your comments can help us understand what we are doing well and where we can make improvements. Where appropriate, feedback will be shared with relevant staff and students to support learning and service development.

Purpose

We will be processing your personal data for the following purposes:

• Medical treatment
• Scientific research
• Marketing

Collection of your data

Once we have collected your personal details (such as, contact details, medical history and prescriptions), we will be processing them for medical treatment purposes and scientific research, with sufficient technical and procedural safeguards in place.

Lawful Bases

The lawful bases for the processing under UK GDPR are:

• the performance of a task carried out in the public interest (Art 6(1)(e)),
• preventive or occupational medicine, medical diagnosis, the provision of health care or treatment etc (Art 9(2)(h)), and
• scientific research (Art 9(2)(j))

We will ask you for explicit consent before processing your information for certain research projects where consent is required by law (e.g. Human Tissue Act, Medicines for Human Use (Clinical Trials) Regulations etc).

Sharing your data

Your data will be shared with:

• those involved at the University of Northampton in data processing (such as, the Podiatry Clinic staff, medical professionals);
• your GP or consultant for the continuity of health care, for the purposes identified above.
• with our Data Processor (Cozwecan/ James-Greyling) for the purposes of secure storage of your data, technical support and effective administration of the patient records.
• We might process your information to comply with law;
• With competent authorities (such as, police) where there is substantial public interest in processing this information.

Data Retention

The retention period for health records is:

• Up to 10 years for those who were over the age of 16 from their last appointment;
• Up to 25 years for those who were under the age of 16 from their last appointment.

You have a right to:

• Right to withdraw consent
• Right to be informed
• Right of access
• Right of rectification
• Right to erasure
• Right to restriction

Please note the above-mentioned rights are not absolute as they are dependent on the legal bases.
