Eligibility and Booking

Making an OSCE booking at CTC

You can make a booking online via the button below.

Please select the ‘candidate’ tab when searching for an exam.

Make your OSCE booking

  • Have you received confirmation from the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) that you are eligible to sit the OSCE, which includes your 10-digit PRN?

If yes, carry on. If not, please join the NMC register.

Do you know which pathway you are on?

You must book your OSCE for the right Nursing field pathway. For example, for an Adult (RNA) NMC application you will book an Adult OSCE 10 station exam

Do you have a valid, current passport?

You must bring your valid, current passport every time you sit an OSCE exam or resit, as we will ask to see it. Please ensure you have it with you at your exam.

If you don’t have a passport, please read the appropriate NMC Candidate Information Booklet for advice

Do the names on your passport, your NMC application and the name you will book your OSCE with all match?

If the name on your passport is different from that on the email/letter from the NMC authorising you to take the test, you must provide original evidence that you are the person named in that email/letter. This may be:

    • Your marriage certificate.
    • A declaration from the awarding body that granted your nursing or midwifery qualification, stating that both names relate to you.

Any queries regarding the above please email the NMC via id.checks@nmc-uk.org

If you can answer Yes to the above questions, you’re ready to book your OSCE!

  • If you are booking a resit, you must do so at the same Competence Test Centre where you sat your first OSCE attempt. You must also allow at least ten days between your exam date and your re-sit date.

How much does the OSCE cost?

Your first OSCE attempt of 10 stations costs £794. Resits of 8 or more stations cost £794. Resits of 1-7 stations cost £397.

How can I pay for my OSCE?

Payment for the OSCE is required at the point of booking. We accept the following credit and debit cards: Visa, Visa Debit, Visa Electron and Mastercard.

What information will I need to provide?

You will need to provide your name and address, date of birth, an email address and mobile number, and your 10-digit PRN. We will check some of this information with the NMC so please ensure that you enter it correctly.

Can I make a booking for someone else?

Bookings can only be made for yourself because we use your contact details to confirm your booking and share information before your OSCE. If you are a trust or training provider booking for multiple candidates, please visit our Managing your candidates booking page for more information.

What if I want to change my booking date or time, or other information, later?

On our booking system you can’t reschedule a booking, but you can cancel your booking and make a new one. Before cancelling, please refer to our cancellation policy. You can also make minor updates such as changing your personal email address or your name after you get married. Visit our booking system at any time.

Will I receive a refund if I cancel?

Please see our booking system terms and conditions for our refund policy. Refunds take up to 5 working days to reach your account.

What happens after I have booked?

We will send you a confirmation email that includes important information about what to do before your OSCE and what happens on the day. We will check your booking first to ensure it is valid, before we email you. This may take up to 48 hours.

We will also email you a reminder approximately two weeks before your OSCE to remind you.

Are there other Competence Test Centres?

Yes, there are other centres around the UK.
