One of the University of Northampton’s most recognised and respected services has a new addition and a new name to meet the community’s health needs better.
Physiotherapy will be offered at the former Podiatry Clinic, which has been renamed The Health and Rehabilitation Centre but is still in the same location at Northampton General Hospital.
The Podiatry Clinic was established in 1989, and the dedicated team of foot and lower limb specialists and students have built a trusted reputation for healthcare that is firmly patient-centred.
Last year, they provided 8,700 lower limb and foot health appointments; at the last count, there were around 28,000 patients on their ‘books’.
The Health and Rehabilitation Centre will continue to offer competitive rates for podiatry and now physiotherapy and also creates valuable, extra clinical placement opportunities for physiotherapy students. This will allow them to gain more hands-on, practical experience, supported by experienced educators.
This will be in addition to the Centre’s Sports Injury and Rehabilitation Clinic and sport and health testing, which will remain at their present Waterside Campus base.
Plans to situate additional services at the Health and Rehabilitation Centre (dietetics, speech and language therapy, counselling, clinical hypnotherapy, antenatal, health checks, testing services) are already underway.

“I’m a physiotherapist by profession, so on a personal level this is a very exciting addition to the excellent and well-established Podiatry team. The two disciplines will dovetail, allowing patients to receive coordinated, individualised treatment and rehabilitation plans supporting recovery, mobility, performance and long-term wellbeing.
“The teams also warmly invite local businesses and organisations who may wish to offer physiotherapy and podiatry services for their staff.
