Postgraduate student satisfaction continues to rise in Northampton according to major national survey

Date 13.08.2025

The results are in from the latest Advance HE postgraduate student survey, and the University of Northampton is pleased to announce student satisfaction has risen for another year running.

The Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey (PTES) is the only UK higher education sector-wide survey to gain insight from taught postgraduate students about their learning and teaching experience.

For 2025 students were asked questions covering themes including ‘Assessment and Feedback’, ‘Resources and Services’, and ‘Quality of Teaching and Learning’ – which are all areas where the University is pleased to have seen a marked improvement rate on positivity from responses.

The University of Northampton’s social science postgraduate degrees – which include MSc Public Health, MA Social Work and MA International Relations – achieved an overall student satisfaction score of 97%.

The University’s MSc Psychology and MSc Counselling Children and Young People degrees have continued to go from strength to strength, achieving 100% student satisfaction awarded in this latest survey.

Compared with other benchmarked universities, students on the University of Northampton’s postgraduate taught courses ranked ‘skills development’, ‘teaching’, ‘organisation’ and ‘assessment’ as the areas where they were most satisfied.

Pro Vice-Chancellor for Education and Student Experience, Alice Wilby said: “We’re incredibly pleased to hear this feedback from our postgraduate students, which comes quick on the heels of our recent successes in the National Student Survey (NSS).

“This is testament to the passionate dedication to deliver gold-standard teaching by our academics and professional services staff, and we look forward to reflecting the feedback and implementing positive change to ensure a continued high-standard of postgraduate student experience.”
