Using Student Futures at UON

Navigating university can be very challenging, particularly when you’ve been hoping to decide on a potential career choice. As a student, it happened when I found out about Student Futures while studying at Northampton University. It’s much more than a strictly employment service; it allows you to have a tailored network system which honestly guides all students a direction of what you want to do after you finish university.

Using Student Futures

I first started interacting with Student Futures in my second year at university. I got a general idea of the goals I wanted to achieve; however, I needed guidance and assurance. I requested a one-to-one appointment to meet with a Careers Employability Partner, and that discussion completely shifted my viewpoint. They supported me across multiple employment opportunities which were useful to my degree and personal aspirations, they also advised me to start developing and learning new skills and experiences as soon as possible. A particular supportive service they offer is regarding cv structure, placements, using LinkedIn and interview planning. I shared my Initial version of my cv and was given effective feedback within a couple days, enabling me to more effectively demonstrate my abilities.

Interview Help

Following that, I visited an interview program which involved me practicing an interview with a Careers Employability Partner, this slowly alleviated my anxiety and enhanced my interpersonal skills with others. Student Futures additionally supplied me with internships alternatives that I probably wouldn’t have found myself. I was offered a placement that gave me practical experience as well as support to build networks in my field of degree and area of career that I would like to go into. They additionally assisted me with the application procedure, including creating cover letters to plan for my evaluation study.
