How to Reach Out to Security at UON

25.07.2025This blog details how to contact the on-campus security, as you never know when you might need them.
The University of Northampton’s security team offer 24/7 assistance and support for all students, whether they choose to live in student accommodation or not. Some of their responsibilities include but are not limited to: well-being and safety support for students, providing medical care, respond to emergencies, manage the car park, operating the CCTV and much more.
The easiest way to contact security is to check the back of your University ID Card, which contains the phone number for the Waterside-based Security, the main Security group here at the University of Northampton. However, if you live in a different accommodation, you can find all the current Security phone numbers below:
- Waterside: 01604 892269
- Scholars Green Student Village: 01604 893839
- St John’s Halls and House: 01604 892941
- Emergency Support (For Emergencies Only): 01604 892777

There may be scenarios in which a student does not want to use their phone to contact security, such as requiring non-urgent security support or advice. In which case, I would recommend emailing CampusSecurity@northampton.ac.uk, although it is worth noting that the response time will not be nearly as quick.
I also recommend the UON SafeZone app, which is available for all smart mobile devices. This app allows the user to quickly access support, with an emergency button, a first-aid button and a non-urgent call button on the main screen which are shortcuts to contacting the relevant security. Another key feature of this app is a quick and easy way to report issues through a shortcut that also allows location sharing and for the user to remain anonymous, which is obviously more difficult through calling and emailing security.
Overall, students may need security for a number of reasons, including as a chaperone after a night out, to support a student who is locked out of their room or accommodation, and a broad range of other scenarios. All security concerns are valid and will be treated with the utmost of seriousness by the team. For example, I was allowed out-of-hours access to a University site to borrow equipment after approval from security, who unlocked the facilities and monitored me until I was finished. If you need any support for any problem, don’t hesitate to contact security using one of the methods listed above!
