It is important to support pupils when thinking about the decisions they need to make as they move from Primary into Secondary school which will help make their hopes and ambitions for the future as real as possible.

The Your Future Your Choice Assembly and Workshop has been designed to help pupils in Key Stage 2 explore the options available to them in the future.

The workshop/assembly will allow your pupils to:

    • Explore opportunities that they have available to them
    • Bust myths surrounding university
    • Explore a vast range of subjects that can be studied at university
    • Talk to our current university students (Student Ambassadors)

We highly recommend that your year 6s participate in a Your Future Your Choice workshop before they attend an event at Waterside Campus, whether that be for a Higher Education Primary Day or for STEAM Northants. This will allow them to get the most out of their visit.

A fantastic opportunity for students with the potential to enter higher education to learn from postgraduate students (UNI Club Tutor) at the University of Northampton. The UNI Club offers 30 students an opportunity to work at a higher level by working on a subject module. After an introductory visit to the University of Northampton, teaching is delivered over 6 weeks in school where students will learn about their tutor’s own research covering a wide range of topics. Previous cohorts have studied many subjects on offer in higher education, including: Fine Arts, Project Management (Business) Environmental Sustainability and History. Students will benefit from studying a subject at a more advanced level and get a taster of the skills required to study at university, including developing research and academic skills.

At the end of the module, students will demonstrate their knowledge and study skills by completing a 1,000-word assignment, which will be marked, and feedback will be given. Each student will be awarded a Pass, Merit or Distinction grade and receive a certificate of participation.
