I decided to study at the University of Northampton because my school teachers advised me that it’s a very good university which would offer me a lot of opportunities.

My career goal is to become a physiotherapist, working within the NHS. I think my studies will help with this as I’ve gained a thorough understanding of the human anatomy and injury assessment, as well as enhancing my time management skills, which will be very useful as a physiotherapist.

As part of my course, I completed a placement at the Sports Injury and Rehabilitation Clinic based within the University. This involves completing appointments with University staff, and members of the public, in which we diagnose their injury and provide them with treatment.

The placement enabled me to gain valuable experience within a clinical environment, as well as allowing me to develop my skills and confidence when talking to new people. To be able to put it on my CV will help a lot and will provide me with a good start to clinic life after I graduate.

My tips on getting the most benefit from a similar placement are to take on as many clients and appointments as possible. There’s no need to be nervous as the course lecturers are always there with you, so don’t be afraid to say that you don’t know the answer to something.

The advice I would give to undergraduates interested in this career path would be that if you care about helping people and making a difference in the world of clinic or sport, this is the best course to start your journey. My experience at the University of Northampton has been incredible – I’ve made a lot of friends and have memories that will last forever.
