Special Educational Needs and Inclusion MA Welcome Pack
Welcome to Special Educational Needs and Inclusion MA – September 2026.
Welcome, and congratulations on taking this step toward advancing your skills and impact. Whether you are a teacher, a specialist practitioner, a health or social care professional, or someone working across those boundaries, you have chosen a course that values your expertise and empowers you to develop it further.
The MA Special Educational Needs and Inclusion is built on the premise that inclusive practice is not a set of techniques to be applied, but a way of thinking to be developed. Across your studies, you will be invited to question assumptions, including your own, about disability, behaviour, and wellbeing. You will engage with current research and policy, while continually considering how your learning applies to your professional context.
You will study alongside practitioners from education, health and social care, and that diversity of experience is one of the programme’s greatest assets. Sessions are delivered in person with some online elements, providing the benefits of community and discussion while offering flexibility around your professional commitments.
Assessment across the programme is varied, designed to develop the kinds of skills that matter in employment: critical writing, reflective practice, leadership thinking, and applied research. Rather than a one-size-fits-all approach, you will find that different modules play to different strengths, and the assessments you complete are ones you can draw on directly in your career.
We are delighted to have you with us. You are now part of a community of people who care deeply about inclusion.
