PGCE (Top-Up) Primary/Early Years/Secondary Welcome Pack
Welcome to PGCE (Top-Up) Primary/Early Years/Secondary 2022.
We welcome you to the PGCE Top-Up course and look forward to working with all of you over this coming year. This course allows you to develop your skills, knowledge and understanding of aspects of education of specific interest to you and to develop your understanding of educational research. While studying on this course you will complete a piece of original research. This course is designed to support your professional development, embedding academic studies in the context of your work. You will enhance your QTS by studying modules at Masters’ level to gain the full PGCE qualification. It will give you a deeper understanding of teaching and learning to enhance your practice and help you on your way to a Masters’ degree if you wish to progress this further. The course is fully online to meet the needs of education professionals looking for the flexibility to study at a distance. The programme leader is Dr Helen Caldwell, who is an associate professor in education with a track record of teaching, research and publications in the field.
