Occupational Therapy MSc Welcome Pack

Welcome to MSc Occupational Therapy (pre-registration) – January 2027.

Welcome to your occupational therapy course, we are looking forward to working with you. This course prepares you to work as a Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered occupational therapist and will provide you with the knowledge and skills to work in any area of practice only you have qualified.

During the first year you will develop your knowledge and skills within anatomy and physiology, occupational therapy theory, core occupational therapy skills, and research, finishing the year with a 10 week placement to apply and further the knowledge and skills gained.

As you move into the second year, you will further develop your knowledge and skills in research, leadership and occupational therapy, and will have a range of placements throughout the year. Whilst engaging in the learning you will also be developing your academic skills in essay writing, report writing and presentations and will be introduced to a range of services at the university that can help you to further develop these skills. We access a range of teaching and learning strategies to enable you to develop throughout your programme, these include guided pre-learning, workshops, group work, guest speakers, practical skills sessions and placements.

During the course, there will be opportunities for interprofessional education, including modules with the BSc Occupational Therapy students and MSc Physiotherapy (pre-registration) students.
