International Finance (Top-Up) BSc Welcome Pack
Welcome to BSc International Finance (Top-Up) 2026.
Welcome to the BSc International Finance Top-Up programme at the University of Northampton. I am delighted to welcome you to this one-year course, designed especially for international students who wish to develop the knowledge, confidence and practical skills needed for today’s global financial environment.
Throughout the year, you will explore how finance operates across international markets, organisations and banking systems. Your modules will introduce you to key areas such as global banking, corporate financial management, international money and finance, financial markets, financial assets, financial instruments and risk management. You will also develop an understanding of financial systems, the structure of financial markets, and how different market participants interact and make decisions.
Importantly, the course will encourage you to think beyond technical knowledge. You will be supported to develop critical awareness of the social, ethical, sustainability and regulatory issues that shape financial activities and financial systems today. You will also complete an International Finance Project, giving you the opportunity to investigate a finance-related topic in greater depth. Alongside your finance modules, you will continue to develop your academic English, critical thinking and analytical writing through dedicated academic conventions modules.
The programme combines 80 credits of finance study with 40 credits of academic English and study skills support. It is aimed at students entering with an IELTS score of 5.5. If your IELTS score is below 5.5, you will normally be expected to complete a pre-sessional English course before the programme begins.
