Welcome to BA Hospitality Management 2026.
(with pathways in Events, Tourism and Hospitality)
Welcome! We are thrilled that you’ve chosen to start your hospitality journey here at the University of Northampton, and we cannot wait to see what you’ll achieve over the next three years. Hospitality is one of the most exciting, fast-moving, people-powered industries in the world, and you are about to dive right into it.
This course is built to give you the real thing, not just the theory. Yes, you’ll build a strong academic foundation, but you’ll also roll up your sleeves on live briefs, learn directly from people working in the industry right now, and get out into the field to see hospitality, events, and tourism in action. Your assessments will reflect that same energy: alongside coursework and exams, you’ll take on live projects and presentations that feel like the real world, because they are.
In your very first week of teaching, you’ll meet your Personal Academic Tutor, your guide, supporter and champion throughout your time here. They’re in your corner from day one, ready to support you academically and personally as you settle into university life.
And semester one? It’s going to set the tone for everything that follows. Get ready for industry guest speakers bringing fresh insight straight from the front line, networking opportunities to start building the connections that will carry you through your career, live client projects that put your skills to the test from week one, and site visits to hospitality, events, and tourism organisations across the region.

Welcome and Induction Sessions
In preparation for your course starting in September, we hold an online session beforehand so you can meet your Academic Team and other students studying the same course. When you arrive at the University of Northampton, there’s plenty to get involved with during Welcome Week. However, there are specific sessions taking place as part of your course induction that’ll help you settle in and prepare for teaching to start the following week:
Tuesday 22 September
- Session: Getting Sorted at Uni
This session will focus on making sure you have all the information and resources you need for starting your studies with us. You’ll get to meet your course tutors and talk through the timetable, support resources and all the admin of getting started!

Wednesday 23 September
Session: Starting your BA Hospitality Management Degree
This session is all about your studies. We’ll talk through your modules for the next year in your course group and how to access the resources and information on our virtual learning environment (NILE). You’ll have plenty of time to ask questions and get to know us and each other. We’ll also go on a Library Quest (!) so you get to know how to access relevant resources to support your study.

Thursday 24 September
Session: The Faculty Welcome Experience!
This is how we love to kick things off in the Faculty of Business Law! This fun and friendly social event brings music, unique games, party food and more to our new student and staff community. Hosted by the faculty Student Experience Assistant Team (SEAT), this is a great opportunity to connect and mix with peers and tutors from Business, Management, Analytics, Marketing, Hospitality, Law, Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Criminology, Criminal Justice & Policing course communities. We promise you’ll have a great time…NOT TO BE MISSED!
