Accounting & Finance BSc Welcome Pack
Welcome to BSc Accounting & Finance 2026.
Welcome to BSc Accounting and Finance at the University of Northampton! We are so excited to have you with us as you begin a degree that opens the door to careers in accounting, auditing, taxation, financial management and many other professional pathways.
Accounting is far more than a computational skill. Throughout this degree, you will learn how to analyse real‑life financial situations, evaluate evidence, and communicate your insights with clarity and confidence.
Your journey begins with our induction activities, where you will have the opportunity to meet your lecturers, connect with your fellow students, and start building your place within our vibrant learning community. These sessions are designed to help you settle into university life, understand what to expect from your studies, and feel confident as you begin your first year. We strongly encourage you to attend and make the most of this valuable opportunity.
From your very first day, you will be assigned a Personal Academic Tutor (PAT) who will support you throughout your studies and help you navigate university life. Your course is structured with six modules each year, giving you a clear and steady learning rhythm. In your first year, you will study five shared modules with BSc Finance students plus one specialist accounting module, helping you build a strong foundation in accounting, economics, finance and mathematics. In later years, you will deepen your expertise in financial reporting, management accounting, auditing, taxation, and many other advanced topics.
Beyond the classroom, you will have many opportunities to experience the accounting and finance world in action. Whether it’s the IFRS London visit, study trips, or working with local businesses on real projects, these activities help bring your learning to life and support your professional development.
We are thrilled to welcome you to the BSc Accounting and Finance community. We look forward to supporting you as you grow, explore and achieve your goals. Let’s make your time at Northampton inspiring, challenging and full of opportunity.
