Accounting & Finance BSc Welcome Pack

Welcome to BSc Accounting & Finance 2023.

Your BSc Accounting & Finance Degree is all about preparing you for employment as an Accounting or Finance Professional. You will not only need to be a technical expert, but you will also need to develop digital fluency, business acumen, leadership qualities, people skills and ethical awareness. You will develop these skills, enabling you to forge a career in a wide range of industry sectors in numerous and diverse roles. You will forge strong links with local employers who will regularly join you on campus to give talks and present workshops on employability skills and career development. Sessions on CV writing, mock interviews, developing your social media profile will all help you to apply and prepare for job opportunities not just upon graduation, but for your placement year or vacation internships. You will be prepared today for the world of work tomorrow.

On your Programme you will cover a wide range of subjects. In your first year you will do two core accounting modules – one on Financial Accounting and one on Management Accounting – these give you a foundation in the technical accounting skills that you will need, which you will then build on in year two and in the final year. Alongside these you will do four other modules that develop some of the wider skills you will need – digital fluency, business acumen, leadership qualities and ethical awareness. You will learn this in modules on financial skills for business, digital and economic environment, corporate and business law and responsible accounting.
