Benefits of living at home
With the cost of studying being a valid concern, many students are opting to commute to university to save money.
Live at home. Enjoy uni life.
Benefits of commuting:
- Save money – on accommodation or rent
- Keep your support network close – at home with family, friends, jobs and other support
- Still experience university life – join societies, study in our library, get personalised support the same way halls students do
What our commuting students say:
“There are loads of public transport for the commute. Northampton is great for public transport. There’s buses, trains and taxis. There are also car parks, which you can apply to park in, if you want to drive in yourself. Plenty of choices for those who have a commute ahead of them.”
“I live at home and commute every day, and I still get the whole university experience. Socialising with friends, going out, the chance to join societies. All those classic university experiences just with the comfort of staying in your home.”
– Kerry, second year Acting student
My biggest advice when it comes to commuting is to know that you are not alone. A lot more people commute to uni than you think so if you ever need help or directions, don’t be scared to ask someone wearing a red lanyard. Once you get used to it, commuting is a breeze and definitely builds your independence.
