University to host Macmillan World’s Biggest Coffee Morning

Date 20.09.2016

The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning will once again be hosted at the University of Northampton this September across both campuses.

Coffee and cakes will be on sale on Monday 26 September at Avenue and on Friday 30 September at Park between 10:30am and 2:30pm. The Office of the Vice-Chancellor will also be hosting a coffee morning on Friday 30 September from 11am to 12pm.

This is Macmillan’s largest fundraising event with events taking place across the country. Here at the University there will be a homemade bake sale and a raffle that has been supported by 15 companies including Experience Days, Beckworth Emporium and more.

Prizes up for grabs include afternoon tea for two in a five star hotel and other venues; family tickets to Althorpe House and other venues; a 30-minute golf lesson; a tobogganing session at the Snowdome; and many other items that your friends and family will enjoy.

Liam Norton who is coordinating the event said: “The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is Macmillan’s largest fundraising event for people facing cancer. The University has been a keen supporter of Macmillan Cancer Support over the years; raising over £600 last year alone. Hosting a Coffee Morning is the perfect chance to catch up over a slice of delicious homemade cake for a great cause.”

There are now 2.5 million people in the UK living with cancer. Macmillan aims to make sure no one faces cancer alone. It provides medical, emotional, practical and financial support, as well as campaigning for better cancer care. As cancer affects more than just those facing it, Macmillan supports friends and family too.
