Sharing insights and discussing topical issues for children and families is on the agenda in April for a double book launch at University of Northampton (UON).
Hosted by UON’s Centre for Education and Research, two experts from the University’s School of Education – Dr Tanya Richardson and Dr Helen Simmons – will outline their recently published works and lead active discussions with their guests.
They will be joined by the Open University’s Dr Robin Sturman-Coombs, who is also a postgraduate student at UON.
The event – which will kick-start a new series of ‘books for the community events’ from the University to start later this year – is free and open to all. The books – copies of which will be available to purchase – to be discussed are:
- Promoting Infant Family Mental Health and Wellbeing, co-edited by Dr Helen Simmons and Dr Robin Sturman-Coombs.
- Creating Affirming Environments for Communication and Language Development, by UON’s Dr Tanya Richardson.
The launch will take place on Wednesday 15 April from 5:30pm – 7pm, at the Morley Room in the Senate building at Waterside Campus and registration is here. Tea and cake will be ready on arrival.
There is also an option for people to join online using this Teams link.
Dr Richardson says: “The evening will be an opportunity to reflect on the themes of the books, acknowledge the collective effort involved in their creation and engage in discussion about their contribution to the field.
“Copies of our books will be available to buy on the night and there will also be time for informal conversation, an activity about the themes of the books; free refreshments and cake will be provided. We look forward to meeting with you.”
