University of Northampton has risen another 12 places and has three subjects in the top ten, after the Guardian published its influential annual league table of UK universities this weekend.
Following a rise of 23 places in last year’s table, UON is now ranked 78th in the country in the table which measures eight areas of performance, including how satisfied students are with their course and their chances of getting a good job after graduating.
UON courses which made it into the top ten of the subject rankings include Journalism which had the biggest jump of 21 places to become the 7th best course of its kind in the country.
Mental Health, which was 11th last year, rose to an impressive third place this year while Paramedic Science rose two spots and is now rated the sixth best course of its kind in the country.
Becky Bradshaw, UON’s Interim Vice Chancellor said: “These results are positive because they reflect the hard work of our staff, students and partners to continually improve the experience and opportunities we provide.
“Climbing another 12 places nationally, alongside achieving top ten rankings in subjects that help develop the skilled professionals needed in our communities and economy, demonstrates our commitment to helping students succeed in their careers.
“We know that higher education must continue to evolve, and at UON we are focused on working closely with employers and partners to ensure our courses are agile and can equip students with the knowledge, skills and confidence to thrive in the workplace.”

Other notable improvements include UON’s Computer Science & Information Systems course which rose 46 places to 24th, Psychology which rose 31 spots, Graphic Design rose 19 and Music rose 13 places.
