Graduations: November 2025

Date 21.11.2025

Storm Claudia swept across the country last week, but that didn’t dampen the spirits of the University of Northampton’s latest graduates and their guests, as 10,000 of them turned up in their finery across four days of celebration.

This year’s ceremonies took place in the town’s Royal & Derngate theatre, hosting 12 ceremonies over the four days – by the numbers, the week included:

  • More than 2,370 students attended in total.
  • They were joined by just over 7,000 of their guests.
  • The ceremonies were supported by over 450 members of staff
  • Student prizes and awards – 80 in fact – to those who had pushed that little bit further during their time at the University.

The University also proudly celebrated two of its newest academic professors – Professor Simon Sneddon (School of Law, Criminology and Criminal Justice) and Professor Tony Baross (School of Sport and Public Health).

Anji Farrow-Tempest is part of the team who delivered the events. She sums up the thoughts of her colleagues: “The Ceremonies are a magical time for our newest graduates and their families.

“It lovely to see our newest graduates celebrating alongside their guests and loved ones, raising the roof at Royal & Derngate as they embark on the next, big chapter in their lives. We wish them all the best for their future as proud graduates of UON.”

Professor Anne-Marie Kilday added: “The University of Northampton has a long and distinguished history and today is a vibrant institution with over 14,000 students from over 100 countries around the world, 2,000 staff and an annual turnover of almost £180m.

“Our Award Ceremonies are primarily occasions of great personal significance to our students, together with their families and friends, but they are also academic and civic ceremonies, which are of considerable importance to our town and County.

“I’d like to personally congratulate all of our graduates, and wish them all the best for their futures.”
