The Reverend Richard Coles is the latest contestant to be announced for this year’s Strictly Come Dancing.
The recently appointed University Chancellor will be blazing a sequin encrusted trail across our screens this autumn as part of the hit BBC 1 series.
The Church of England priest’s involvement was announced during his appearance on BBC Radio 2 this morning, where he joked he’d already given up the pork pies.
“It was an easy decision to make, it’s obvious to anyone who knows me that a major dance talent was waiting to be discovered. I just wonder why it took them so long, frankly…”
Rev Coles – already well known to many as a broadcaster and member of eighties pop band The Communards – was installed as Chancellor of the University in July.
