Immigration Health Surcharge
If you are applying for immigration permission for more than six months, you will be required to pay the Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) at the point of submitting your visa application. This payment is in addition to the visa application fee and is mandatory. This surcharge will apply to all applicants and family members applying to come to the UK as dependants. This will entitle you to use the National Health Service (NHS) whilst you are in the UK.
The Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) increased from 6 February 2024 for Student route and Graduate route applications. For Student route applications, and Student route dependant applications, made on or after 6 February 2024, the IHS fee is £776 per applicant, per year of permission applied for.
For Graduate route applications, and Graduate route dependant applications, made on or after 6 February 2024, the IHS fee is £1,035 per applicant, per year of permission applied for. You can use the UKVI Calculator to work out the length of immigration permission you will be granted and calculate the fee you will be charged.
